Accipitriformes is the order of Aves that contains medium to large birds of prey. Some examples are eagles, hawks and vultures. They are usually distinguished by their large hooked beaks, strong legs and sharp claw-like talons. They are mostly carnivores and hunt by sight not scent. They can either hunt during the day or at twilight. Accipitriformes have large broad wingspans to help them soar. Though these birds tend to live long lives, they have low reproduction rates.
